MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In a game that was close after the first quarter of play, Faulkner ratcheted up the defensive pressure and pulled away for a 93-54 win over Carver Saturday. The final game of the Thanksgiving Classic saw the Lady Eagles jump into a press in the second quarter on the way to forcing 28 turnovers in the contest.
The defensive adjustment helped Faulkner outscore Carver 17-8 in the second quarter and 27-8 in the third to effectively put the game away. The Lady Eagles shot 43.9 percent from the floor in the game including 38.9 percent from three. Faulkner also notched 29 assists on 36 made baskets while winning the rebound battle 48-36.
Micala Fisanick finished one shy of her career high with 24 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Ashlyn Adkins became just the second Lady Eagle of all time to hit the 1,600-point mark in a career on an afternoon in which she recorded 21 points, three rebounds, five assists, one block and four steals.
Morgan Holland and
Channing Gafford had five assists apiece while
Nequoia Adams notched four. Every Lady Eagle scored in the contest.
Faulkner (5-5) returns to action Monday at 5 p.m. when it hosts Oakwood.
