Faulkner (4-0) scored in the fourth, seventh and eighth innings in game two Friday to support the sterling effort of
J.C. Toro in a 7-1 victory over Indiana Wesleyan.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when
Alex Arauz doubled home
Shawn Ross for a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Paulsen came on to run for Arauz before scoring on a wild pitch for the 2-0 lead.
IWU broke through in the top of the seventh when Tye Thixton doubled in M.J. Stavola to narrow the gap to 2-1. Faulkner avoided the shutdown inning in the home half of the frame as
Isaac Phillips singled in
Bo Seccombe and
Jonathan Villa for the 4-1 advantage.
The Eagles plated three more runs in the eighth when
Mike Battle doubled in
Isaiah Brooks and
Justin Lara before himself scoring on a Phillips single.
Toro struck out eight batters over six scoreless innings while scattering five hits and walking one for the win.
Stafford Quinnelly got the save, striking out four batters over two and a third innings of work and facing the minimum.
Game three of the series is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
