DALTON, Ga. – Faulkner overcame an early deficit on the road Tuesday night to down Dalton State for the fourth time this season with an 88-76 victory. The Eagles trailed most of the first half and for the opening minutes of the second before
Jordan Hamlette went on a personal 12-2 run in a 54-second stretch to flip the game.
Faulkner was down 48-45 with 16:19 to play when Hamlette drew a foul and connected on all three free throws. He then parlayed a
Garrett Sanderson dish into a three-pointer to put Faulkner up 51-48.
After an Aaron Burress bucket, Hamlette drained another three to move the lead to 54-50 before turning a
C.J. Hines dime into another long-range connection to set the advantage at 57-50 with 15:25 left.
Hamlette then assisted a Sanderson three with 14:48 left to put Faulkner up 10. Successive threes by Hines and
Daniel Garmendia had Faulkner up 66-55 at the under-12 media timeout.
After the stoppage, Faulkner blitzed Dalton again with a 10-1 run that put the Eagles up 20. While Dalton chipped away at the deficit, the margin never got to within 12 again.
Hamlette, who had a career low two points Monday night, set a new career high for the third time this season Tuesday. He finished with 34 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
Garmendia notched 16 points, giving him 51 in his last three games. Sanderson finished with 15 points and nine assists while Hines had 10 points.
Faulkner made 17 three-pointers at a 55 percent clip. It marked the fifth consecutive game the Eagles have made double-digit three-pointers. Faulkner is 75 of 166 from beyond the arc over that stretch, good for a 45 percent mark.
The made 17 of their 27 field goals from deep Tuesday, shooting 53 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the free throw line in the contest.
Faulkner (22-2, 13-1 SSAC) heads to Florida College Friday for its final two regular season contests.
