MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (0-7) fell 5-0 to Sun Conference runner-up Keiser (12-1-1) Friday afternoon at the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex.
In her first appearance of the year,
Faith Pelletier-King wasted no time pressuring the Seahawk net, firing the first shot of the match into the hands of the keeper on the near post just 49 seconds into the match after a skill move got her to the end line around the defender.
The defending national champions showed why they won the national tournament last season, outshooting the Lady Eagles 37-1 while controlling a vast majority of the possession. Maja Henriksson's left-side attack struck near post broke
Megan White's five save streak to start the match in the 24th minute. Henriksson doubled her scoring in the 38th before an own goal in the 43rd put Faulkner down 3-0 at halftime.
Henriksson set up Matilda Ovenberger for her first of two in the 58th before a 69th minute link up with Maja Lundman completed Ovenberger's brace.
White finished with a season-high 18 saves.
Faulkner welcomes Georgia Gwinnett (0-1) Saturday at 5 p.m.
