PIKE ROAD, Ala. - With Faulkner nearly scoring the equalizer five minutes earlier, a free kick in the 71st minute from Middle Georgia's Noemy Franco sealed the visiting conference foe's eventual 3-0 win Thursday night at Pike Road High School.
After conceding the opener 40 seconds into the match, the Lady Eagles steadied the ship, apexing in a 40 yard half-volley from
Faith Pelletier-King hitting off the crossbar before bouncing away in the 66th minute. The dagger goal scored by Franco developed off a handball called against Faulkner just outside the box moments after shouts for a handball on Middle Georgia were not answered.Â
Miagh Downey delivered the cross to Tatjana Steinau for the opener before scoring the superfluous goal with 17 seconds to play.Â
The loss snapped a three-game win streak and a defensive donut streak spanning over 300 minutes.Â
Pike Road's turf field played host to the event after the Wednesday storms made the grass fields at the Emory Folmar Complex unplayable.
The Lady Eagles welcome Brewton-Parker Saturday for their final home match. The Barons currently sit in third while Faulkner is in fourth in the league. The SSAC meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m.
