MONTGOMERY, Ala. -
Sam Kelly picked up Saturday where he left off Thursday, bagging goals at will. The English forward scored the first three goals of the game before assisting the final two as the Eagles (3-7-1, 2-3 SSAC) defeated Brewton-Parker (5-6, 1-3 SSAC) 5-0 in an SSAC contest.
Kelly buried a pass from
Daniel Oelmez in the 11th minute for what would prove to be the game winner, his second of the week. 94 seconds later, he doubled the advantage heading in a cross from
Antoine Marques.
The program's first hat trick in conference play completed when
Adrien Alexandre passed to
Kobe Banks who delivered to Kelly in the 64th minute. Banks earned his second career assist seven minutes later, linking Kelly's pass to Oelmez who scored his second goal of the week.
Three minutes later, Marques chased down a through ball from Kelly before chipping the keeper atop the box and walking the fifth and final goal into the net.
Nic Fischer stopped three shots in his first clean sheet in Faulkner blue behind a backline of
Willian da Silva,
Johnny Doan,
Gabino Morin and
Felipe Pineiro with shifts in defense served by
Bevan Wortley and
Josh Lane that allowed just six shots in the match.
Faulkner sits a half game behind fourth place Middle Georgia (2-2 SSAC), but it owns the tiebreaker over the Knights.
The Eagles take a two-game win streak into Temple Terrace, Fla. to face the Falcons Thursday in their final conference match.
