Lady Eagles hold Point blank, convert penalty to win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner controlled every facet of the game against Point (5-5-1) Thursday night in a 1-0 win at the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex and cashed it in with a 68th minute penalty kick converted by Faith Pelletier-King

Klara Ebert created the opportunity with a nice pass in behind the defense on to Ainsley Lockwood who was tripped by Gisele Osorio in the box. Pelletier-King calmly and perfectly placed a driven penalty into the right side netting for what would be the lone goal of the night.

The scoreline proved closer than the contest felt and appeared statistically. The Lady Eagles outshot Point 27-3 while placing 13 shots on target. Of her now 10 clean sheets, Megan White recorded one of the least busy shutouts of her career Thursday, stopping the first and only shot she faced, a one-on-one with Keiry Bonilla just 129 seconds into the contest. Behind a back line anchored by Angelica Justice and Camila Parada and rotated Taylor Strength, Haley Bartell, Nduke Nze and Adamarie Moreno, Faulkner kept the Skyhawks grounded, not much threat on goal after the save from White.

The Lady Eagles (2-9) picked up their second consecutive 1-0 win. Faulkner welcomes Middle Georgia State March 18 for an SSAC matchup.
