West Point, Ga. - Seven Lady Eagles placed their names on the score sheet en route to the first win of the season in a 4-0 decision on the road against Point. Four goals and three assists, each tallied uniquely marks the most to either score or assist in a match since an 11-0 win at Judson in September 2019. The victory marks the first time the two teams have been separated by multiple goals in series history.
Alessia Confalonieri started the party in the 38th minute with a picture perfect screamer into the top right corner from 25 yards out, receiving the ball from
Dominique Rivera off a nice hold-up play from
Luci Schroder's lobbed pass. The goal is the first of her career, making her the first Italian to score for the program. Rivera's assist is the third in her career and first since 2019.Â
Faulkner delivered the knockout combo, tripling the advantage in 53 seconds early in the second half.
Kendall Blackmon drove a 51st minute free kick high from the left side about halfway into the attacking end and went untouched into the twine.
Corinne Weissinger opened her Faulkner scoring account in the 52nd minute, shooting off a quickly-taken short corner by
Faith Pelletier-King and hitting high and strong at the keeper who could not keep it out. It was the Canadian's sixth assist and her first since 2019 as well.Â
Gianna Mendez buried a half-volley in the box from Schroder's left-side cross in the 62nd minute. It was the Mendez's third career goal and first since 2019 and Schroder's first assist.Â
The defense was stellar in front of
Reagan Embry who saved all four shots on target she faced in the contest on her way to her first clean sheet. As a team, the Lady Eagles allowed just six shots in the match and two corner kicks.
Faulkner continues the road swing and will conclude four matches in nine days in three different states with a trip to face Freed-Hardeman Saturday at 3 p.m. It's the first meeting since 2013 between the sister schools and first away match against the Lady Lions since 2008. The Lady Eagles have won the last five meetings between the teams.
