JACKSON, Tenn. - The Lady Eagles completed a nine day stretch of four matches in three states with a dominant 3-0 win over Freed-Hardeman Saturday afternoon at the University School of Jackson.
Kendall Blackmon became the team's leading scorer as the centerback scored the opener 10 minutes into the match off a corner whipped in by Corrine Weissinger, who tallied the first assist of her college career.
Ainsley Lockwood scored the second goal in the 28th minute, sliding into the box to connect with
Dominique Rivera's cross.
In the 43rd minute. Freed-Hardeman fired its last shot of the match into the hands of
Reagan Embry, with the Lady Eagles clamping down defensively. Embry saved all three shots on target of the four Lady Lion efforts in her second consecutive clean sheet. In the past 240 minutes of play, Faulkner's defense has allowed just eight shots on target with all of them being saved.
Luci Schroder buried her first goal on a one-on-one with the keeper after a nice bit of skill from
Klara Ebert kept the play alive in the 66th.
The match is the fifth consecutive shutout against Freed-Hardeman for the program dating back to 2006. The Lady Eagles now hold a 6-1 record in the series.
Faulkner returns home to face Belhaven Tuesday Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. The contest marks the first time that the sides have squared off since 2014 and the Lady Eagles are undefeated in the five-game history.
