MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Despite one of the strongest offensive showings of the season, the Lady Eagles (2-3) could not find the final touch as Belhaven (2-0) scrapped a goal off a corner in the 16th minute to snap a two-match shutout and win streak Tuesday night at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
Faulkner's attack battered the Blazers, especially over the final half. In the final 45 minutes, the Lady Eagles outshot Belhaven 13-5 forcing eight goalkeeper saves from Julianne Wilson who subbed in at half, including three in the final three minutes. But it just was not Faulkner's night.
Belhaven's one shot on goal in the first half proved to be a winner as Anna Crane headed home a ball played in off the head of Emily Easterling from a scramble on a corner.
The Lady Eagles placed 12 of their 17 shots on target while allowing just three Blazer shots on goal.
Faulkner faces Life Friday at 7 p.m. in the last meeting between the two sides before the Running Eagles join the SSAC next season.
