LOUDON, Tenn. - The Lady Eagles finished seventh in the eight team field in the Eagle Match Play Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Tennessee National Golf Club, defeating Point 4-1 after losing 3-2 to Tennessee Wesleyan and 4-0-1 to Milligan. The event was the first time the program had played in or even hosted a match play event.
No. 12 Milligan def. Faulkner 4-0-1
The Lady Eagles dropped its opening contest 4-0-1 to the No. 12 team in the country with
Chloe Blandinieres picking up the tie.
AnnaMarie Stooksbury lost her matchup 10&8,
Eden Shipp fell 3&1 and
Maribeth Reilly and
Ainhoa Gurruchaga dropped their matches 5&4.
Tennessee Wesleyan def. Faulkner 3-2
Gurruchaga and Blandinieres picked up convincing 7&5 wins against the Bulldogs to set the Lady Eagles in position to advance to the fifth place match but they couldn't find the third win needed in the unique format as Shipp lost 6&4, Stooksbury 9&8 and Reilly was edged out 2&1.
Faulkner def. Point 4-1
The Lady Eagles picked up convincing wins against the soon-to-be conference rival Skyhawks with Gurruchaga taking an 8&7 win, Reilly a 7&6, Blandinieres 5&4 and Shipp 4&2. The sweep was narrowly missed as Stooksbury fell 3&2.
