NEW ORLEANS - Faulkner couldn't find its swing in the birthplace of jazz as the Lady Eagles fell 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 25-27, 25-12) to Loyola Friday night in The Den in SSAC action despite some tough defense.
A night that saw the Lady Eagles collect more than 100 digs in any length match for just the second time since 2019 was undone by 34 attack errors that proved to be the difference. The 105 digs is the most in a four set match since August 31, 2019 when they hit the century mark on the nose against Johnson and Wales (Fla.) in the Faulkner Invitational.
The first two sets were tough on the visitors who found just 18 kills to 25 errors as the hosts took a 2-0 lead.
Faulkner jumped to a 14-9 advantage trying to avoid the sweep in the third but the Wolf Pack clawed back to take a 16-15 lead. Faulkner eventually looked at match point, but a setter kill from
Alyssa Stagner prolonged the match to extra points where
Hannah Bryan capitalized on a previous Loyola attack error to take the third set.
Faulkner trailed by just three in the fourth set at 15-12, but the Wolf Pack won the next ten to close the match.
Molly Prenell led the team in kills with 11, her 16th double-figure output of the season, eclipsing 300 on the year. She also totaled 20 digs.
Alexis McInroy has adjusted incredibly well to the libero roll, collecting 23 digs to lead the team.
Alyssa Stagner's 21 digs and 14 assists gave her another double-double.
Mandi Hart also turned in a digs and assists double-double with 16 and 15, respectively.
Hannah Bryan tallied 10 kills and 17 digs for one herself.
The Lady Eagles continue the road trip with a visit to William Carey to take on the Crusaders Saturday at 1 p.m. William Carey has lost just one match this season and is unbeaten at home.
