MOBILE, Ala. - Faulkner dropped a close four set match with Mobile Saturday on the Rams' homecoming 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22) to split the season series with the in-state foe.
The first set was full of significant swings of momentum with three runs of four or more points in a row, with the hosts finding two of such runs with the last one being five consecutive to take a 17-14 lead after trailing by two and controlled to the opening set win.
Leading 22-21 in the second set with Mobile serving for the tie,
Molly Presnell's kill gave the Lady Eagles the serve and after a Ram attack error, Presnell ended the set with another kill.
In the third set, Faulkner trailed 17-11 but made things interesting with an 8-3 run to cut it to a one point swing set, but Mobile closed with five kills over the next seven points to take the match lead.
Down 23-17 in the fourth set, it looked all but done for the Lady Eagles, but they rallied and challenged to force the match to five sets with a 5-1 run. However, Mobile finished the match with a kill.
Setters
Mandi Hart and
Alyssa Stagner each picked up double-doubles with Stagner leading the way with 18 assists and 14 digs with Hart getting 14 and 11.
Alexis McInroy paced the defense with 18 digs while
Hannah Bryan added 17. Presnell picked up her third straight kills and digs double-double with 16 and 12.
Faulkner welcomes Brewton-Parker Friday night at 6 p.m.
