MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner handled business against a game Middle Georgia State team 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-15) Saturday.
The match is the last at home for six Lady Eagles graduating this school year. This senior class is a special one; two of them,
Mallory Black and
Alyssa Stagner are super seniors who opted to use their extra year of eligibility as a result of COVID. They, along with fellow leaders
Alexis McInroy,
Haven Owings,
Molly Presnell and
Julia Rice were honored after the game.
Set one saw the Lady Eagles dominate over the Knights, going on a 12-point run early. Presnell earned two service aces, while
Hannah Bryan got three of her four aces later on in the set. A kill by Black sealed the set for Faulkner.
In the second set, Middle Georgia battled back in a set which saw several lead changes throughout. Down 17-16, Faulkner got kills by
Charlee Jordan and
Molly Presnell to spark an 8-2 run which ended the set.
The third set went back and forth early on until a 9-3 Lady Eagle run started by a Stagner ace gave them an 18-10 lead. The Knights tried to close the gap, but Faulkner remained strong to the finish to close out the season sweep.
The Lady Eagles will be on the road to finish the season, traveling to play RV Life on Friday and Talladega on Saturday
