MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner ended the first half with a spurt that ignited a 10-0 run as it pulled to a double-digit lead on the way to beating Southeastern 80-57.
The Fire's got a bucket from Sean Shore with 17:58 left to narrow the deficit to 10 before Faulkner embarked upon another 10-0 lead to run the advantage to 53-33.
The Eagles consistently limited the players around All-American Riley Minix while he feasted for 30 points and 11 rebounds. That performance notwithstanding, Faulkner won the rebounding battle 34-23. Jalan Mull contributed 10 for the Fire but no one else manage double figures.
The Eagles landed four players in double figures to win their first SSAC-Sun Challenge matchup.
Derek Murphy finished with 23 points, five rebounds and three assists. 
Trace Hill and 
C.J. Hines each had 15 points. 
Daniel Garmendia had 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles shot 51.9 percent from the floor, 40 percent from three and 87.5 percent from the free throw line while limiting Southeastern 44 percent from the field and 29 percent from beyond the arc.
Faulkner (11-2, 4-2 SSAC) wraps its SSAC-Sun Challenge slate Friday with a contest against Warner at 3:30 p.m.
