JACKSON, Miss. - Faulkner defense smothered the Majors Monday at Harper Davis Field as the Lady Eagles won 3-0 against Millsaps without allowing the hosts to attempt a shot. The defensive effort comes at the end of three road games in a four day stretch spanning nearly 800 miles and three states.
Ainsley Lockwood ignited the scoreboard with a strong, high finish when
Annabel Cuthbert passed her into space in the 11th minute after
Elodie Metho created space on the left wing.
Sofia Jimeno found
Remmie Ferla around the penalty spot and the English forward also went top shelf for the finish in the 39th to double the advantage. Cuthbert got on the scoreboard in the 60th, burying the penalty.
Reagan Embry was untested in goal as 20 different Lady Eagles contributed to the clean sheet including
Helena Jankowski who made her first varsity appearance as a fifth-year player.
The Lady Eagles are 4-1-1, the best start since 2011 when they carried the same record through the first six matches.
The road trip continues as Faulkner travels to Tupelo, Miss. to take on Williams Baptist (Ark.) in a neutral site contest Friday at 4 p.m.
