Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Faulkner played one of its best games of the season Monday night as it dropped Blue Mountain 78-64. The Lady Eagles won every quarter and never trailed during a contest that saw them lead for nearly 39 minutes.
"It was a great road win for us tonight. I thought we were really solid on both ends of the floor. We finished high percentage shots. We made free throws. We really played hard on the defensive side against a good Blue Mountain offensive team that has guards that can score in a variety of ways," Faulkner Head Coach
Reed Sutton said. "
Nequoia Adams sunk a layup with 8:58 remaining in the first quarter to open the scoring and ignite a 10-0 run. The shot gave Faulkner a lead it never relinquished and set the tone for Adams' night. The sophomore guard surpassed 500 career points, dropping 25 on the night to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
"What else can you say about Nequoia's performance? She really stayed aggressive and picked her spots well," Sutton said. "However, if you take a deep dive into the game, we had really good balance and everyone played well. We are excited about the win."
Morgan Holland added 15 points and seven rebounds.
Evaiah Burrows had 13 points while
Angela Grant turned in her 34th career double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Lady Eagles shot 48 percent from the floor while limiting Blue Mountain to 33.3 percent. Sutton's squad won the rebound battle 36-33 and outpaced the Toppers 40-28 in the paint.
The victory kept Faulkner tied for second in the SSAC, moving the Lady Eagles to 5-2 in league play and 13-4 overall.
Faulkner returns to action Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. when it hosts Middle Georgia State.
