MONTGOMERY, AL— Faulkner (3-13, 2-5 SSAC) fell in three sets (15-25, 14-25, 17-25) against (RV) Loyola (16-4, 7-1 SSAC) Saturday afternoon. The Wolfpack won the kill battle 43 to 23 as the Lady Eagles tried to withstand an offensive onslaught.
In the final set, Faulkner held strong throughout, setting the tone early with kills from Haven Owings, Victoria Wheeler, and Hannah Bryan, a couple of mistakes from Loyola, and a service ace from Kolbi Bates gave the Lady Eagles a 4-10 lead.
Loyola fought back with a couple of kills, however, the turning point came from a Simone Tyson kill which gave Loyola the spark to rip off an 8-1 run, putting the Wolfpack ahead 18-14. From there Loyola would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set.
Ellie Cyr notched her fourth double-double of the season in the loss and Hannah Bryan finished with six kills and six digs.
The game was the final homestand for the month of October as the Lady Eagles will be on the road for the next nine games, kicking it off with a match against Mobile (13-6, 6-3 SSAC) on Thursday, October 12th at 7:30.
