MONTGOMERY, AL— Faulkner (9-17, 4-9 SSAC) dominated in a sweep of Middle Georgia (5-14, 4-10 SSAC) on Friday night in Tine-Davis Gymnasium.
The SSAC game of the week came with high stakes as a spot in next week's conference tournament was on the line.
The Lady Eagles easily played their best game of the season, posting 42 kills on 86 attacks and only committing eight errors in the contest while the Knights put up only 25 kills on 91 attacks.
The turning point of the match occurred in the third set where early on, both teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle. With the score tied 7-7, a kill from
Ellie Cyr ignited an 8-1 Faulkner run to make it 14-8.
Then
Hannah Bryan went on a tear with not one, not two, not three, but four service aces in a row, extending the lead to 19-8. Middle Georgia took advantage of a kill from Courtney Williamson and an attack error from
Charlee Jordan to try and cut into the deficit. However, Jordan had the last word with an emphatic kill to send the Lady Eagles to the conference tournament.
Haven Owings led the team with ten kills, along with three blocks.
Julia Rice,
Victoria Wheeler, and
Charlee Jordan finished with eight kills each. Finally, Bryan passed her career high for service aces in a game with six.
Faulkner will finish the regular season with their final home game on Saturday, November 4 against Brewton-Parker (5-17, 1-12 SSAC) at 1:00 p.m.
