WEST POINT, Miss. - Bryan de Jonge ran away from the tournament field to claim the individual title by a mesmerizing nine shots at the Blue Mountain Christian University Golf Classic at the Mossy Oak Golf Course Monday and Tuesday carding the low rounds in each of the two rounds in the event with an even par 72 Monday and a three-under-par 69 Tuesday. The team jumped to a fourth place finish dropping seven shots off its Monday score in Tuesday's round to finish 47-over-par 623. 

de Jonge picked up his first individual crown of his college career and earned the first individual tournament title for the men's program since Emile Raath won the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational in February 2021 with seven birdies. The native of Rosmalen, Netherlands sensational day included a stretch of four in five holes between holes nine through 13 that feature two par threes and par five. The win defeated three of the top 140 golfers in GolfStat's NAIA rankings from host Blue Mountain including second place Pontus Nordstrom who is the 69th-ranked golfer. 

Awethu Mkwanazi finished tied for 27th with a 15-over-par 159 after dropping a shot off his first round score on Tuesday. Juan Cespedes tied for 37th just two shots behind his teammate at 17-over-par. Christoph Rickert placed 44th with a pair of 10-over-par 82s in his rounds. Connor Taylor tied for 56th after carding a first round nine-over-par 81. 

The Eagles now turn their attention to defending their crown at the SSAC Men's Golf Championship April 17-19 at RTJ at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Ala.
