DALTON, Ga. – The Eagles came up short on the road against the Dalton State Roadrunners Saturday afternoon 95-87 despite an incredible individual scoring outburst from
Jayden Cooper.
WIth 7:16 left in the half the Roadrunners took a commanding lead over the Eagles by 20. At the 2:35 mark
R.J. Comer cut the lead down to 10 with a big time 3-pointer.
The Eagles battled for the remainder of the game. They cut the score down to seven with two free throws from
Jonathan Garcia. The Roadrunners answered back with a dunk from Allon Johnson.
Garcia was able to come down the court to bring it back within seven, but with less than a minute to go the Eagles had to foul. The Roadrunners were able to seal the deal with multiple free throws late in the game.
Three Eagles starters came away with double-digit scoring. Cooper led the team in scoring with 39 points. This put him at third in most points scored in a single game for Faulkner University. Victor Muñoz added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Jonathan Garcia added 20 points as well.
The Eagles had 16 points off turnovers and 19 points off second chances,but the Roadrunners shooting 57.9 percent from three helped them tremendously.
Faulkner (8-8, 3-5 SSAC) plays again Tuesday when it hosts Thomas University at 7:30 p.m.
