Henderson, Tenn. - The Lady Eagles traveled to their sister school, Freed-Hardeman, on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Lions picked up the victory over Faulkner 75-46.
The Lady Eagles fell behind in the first quarter but kept it close until the quarter's end. Faulkner only trailed Freed-Hardeman by five heading into the second quarter.
Nequoia Adams brought the Lady Eagles within two after a layup at the 9:10 mark. Freed pushed their lead with a free throw to 16-12, but the Lady Eagles pulled within one off a three-pointer from Ruthie Smith.
The Lady Eagles took their first lead of the game with a three from Sydney Steward. Dee Guinn then pushed the Faulkner lead to five with a three at the 6:59 mark, but the Lady Lions took the lead back with back-to-back buckets to tie it up at 23 all.
From there, Freed held on to its lead until the start of the third quarter. Keyarra Scottland scored the Lady Eagles a layup to bring the score to 33-32.
The Lady Lions then went on a 12-0 run to lead Faulkner 45-33 late in the third quarter. The Lady Eagles scored two more baskets but Freed extended to bring the quarter to an end and the score 50-37.
The fourth quarter began, and the Lady Lions continued to push their lead. The Lady Eagles continued to fight but couldn't pull the game back close. Freed won the Game 75-46.
The Lady Eagles outrebounded the Lady Lions 33-29 but Freed outshot Faulkner from behind the arc 61 percent to 15 percent.
The Lady Eagles had two players score in double-digits. Sydney Steward had 11 and Ruthie Smith had 10. Each had four rebounds. Keyarra Scottland and Nequoia Adams both had seven points each.
The Lady Eagles (3-4, 0-2 SSAC) return home on Saturday night. They host Oakwood for the early-season rematch at 6:00 p.m.
