Nequoia Adams would cut the lead to three from her made layup with 2:14 left, but with time running out the Lady Eagles would have to start fouling. William Carey would ice the game out with multiple free throws at the end of the game. The final score was William Carey 58 and Faulkner 47.
"That was great game. A playoff-level competition." Head Coach
Reed Sutton said.
"Credit to William Carey for having the poise to withstand our late flurry. Our kids really defended well, but Carey's length and switching defense forced us into tougher shots than we were comfortable with. They did a good job finishing the game at the free-throw line. "
Nequoia Adams led the team in scoring with 23 points.
Dee Guinn added 10 of her own.
Kinlee Varnell had five points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
"We will regroup and be ready for Blue Mountain on Senior Day as we try to regain our momentum for this final stretch of the season. If we can defend like we did today and get the ball moving better, we are going to be very tough to beat." That game will be on Saturday at noon inside Tine W. Davis Gymnasium.
