Faulkner drops Sunday night scrap with ASU

Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner turns its attention to SSAC play after a 4-1 loss at Alabama State Sunday night at the ASU Soccer Complex after a pair of one-two punches from the Hornets sank the Lady Eagles against the crosstown NCAA D1 foe.

The Lady Hornets (3-4) got on the board first with a couple of quick strikes around the half-hour mark from Rachel Mull to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Cassie Jackson cut into the deficit in the 51st minute with her fourth goal of the season. Just moments later, Mull completed her second hat trick against NAIA foes this season to push ASU's lead to two again. Just a couple minutes later, the Hornets made it 4-1, taking a one goal game to a three score difference in just three minutes. Faulkner's defense buckled back down and limited the Hornet chances to keep the scoreline there.

Faulkner (2-3-1) was accurate through the contest on its shots, putting five on frame with seven total shots.

Keila Cardeiro made six saves in the loss.

The Lady Eagles now get ready for conference play this week taking on Brewton-Parker Thursday night at 5 p.m.
