MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Despite an advantage in points and kills, Faulkner (7-14, 2-9 SSAC) could not get the upper hand on Life (11-7, 6-4 SSAC) save for one frame in a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-15, 25-18) loss at Tine Davis Gymnasium on Friday night. 

The Running Eagles won the hitting battle .246 to .204. The first set was the only frame where either team had less than 10 kills. Despite two less kills, Life made up for it by forcing Faulkner into two more hitting errors, allowing the former to outhit the hosts .107 to .077 and take the early match lead.  

The Lady Eagles responded with 17 kills to just three errors in the second period for a .500 hitting mark while holding Life to .231 in running away with the frame and tying the match. The Running Eagles then flipped the script with a hitting advantage of .480 to .143 in the third, only scoring one more hit than Faulkner but only committing one miscue while forcing the latter into eight. The tenor of the match was leaning toward another five-setter, but Life ensured a quicker ending than the last meeting this season in Marietta as it outhit Faulkner .220 to .167 in the fourth frame. 

Allyse Rudolph led both teams with 15 kills on .282 hitting with a double-double, as she also dug 11 Life attacks and blocked two. Kaleigh Moss racked up 14 kills with a .321 night, and she and Rudolph served up an ace each. Charlee Jordan had eight kills. Riley Deem scored seven of them with three blocks. Madison Martin totaled six kills and five total blocks, three of them solo. Mandi Hart and Ellie Cyr put up 23 and 18 assists with seven and eight digs, respectively, as Hart also scored on a pair of aces. Addison Smith scored Faulkner's fifth ace. Jaylyn Strength scooped nine attacks, and Kolbi Bates added seven.  

Faulkner takes on Brewton-Parker Christian tomorrow at home at 1 pm.
