MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner was losing 14-10 at the beginning of halftime with the Georgia Warhawks before coming back in the second half, winning the game 41-20 on Sunday afternoon at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
Faulkner Futures did an outstanding job during the entire game, staying with the Warhawks the entire time even when down. Despite only scoring a touchdown and a field goal in the first half, the Eagles managed to come back and win by scoring 31 points in the second half of the game.
The Eagles started to make their comeback in the third quarter when Tryston Tapia blocked a punt for the Warhawks. Clifford Amaker recovered the ball, which allowed the Eagles to score on a 15-yard pass from Seth Leebern to Damauri Whetstone and start to regain their lead.
The fourth quarter is when things started looking even better for the Eagles. Starting with a touchdown by Zaccheus Dale, the Eagles' next 17 points were off Warhawk turnovers. The Warhawks tried to keep up, but were only able to score a single touchdown in the second half.
A big moment for the Eagles happened in the fourth quarter as well. The Warhawks fumbled the ball after a completed pass, which was recovered and returned 73 yards by Kendrick Wilson for a touchdown for the Eagles.
Overall, the Eagles' fight to win was displayed well during the second half. Despite the initial setback in the first half, the Eagles managed to not get down because of it and come back with a win.
