Montgomery, Ala.- This past Saturday, March 8th, Members of the Faulkner Cross Country teams took part in the Montgomery Half Marathon. The race took place throughout downtown Montgomery, where racers traveled from the starting line at the Alley water tower through historic parts of downtown Montgomery and finished at Riverwalk Stadium.
The race started at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and consisted of 473 runners. Faulkner Cross Country had eight racers represent the university and their teams well as they all finished the race.
The Eagles had three people in the race.
Brodie Moore finished fourth overall and second in his age group with a total time of 01:19:00.63.
Carson Roberson finished 11th with a total time of 01:32:28.25. He also placed second in his age group.
Lane Berry-Kilpatrick finished in the top 50 at 45th with a total time of 01:42:03.04. He came in 4th place as well in his age group.
Faulkner also had five Lady Eagles take part in the half marathon.
Chloe Helms placed 19th overall and first in her age group. She had a total time of 01:35:05.58.
Avery Rogers finished 52nd and second overall in her age group with a total time of 01:43:53.83.
Martha Mendez came in 260th and 14th in her age group with a total time of 2:15:37.63.
Claudia Velazquez trailed not too far behind in 270th with a total time of 2:16:36.86. She finished 16th in her age group.
Saryah Martin rounded out the Faulkner runners with 290th and a total time of 2:19:39.59. She finished sixth in her age group.
"We are really proud of our athletes and the growth that we are seeing this spring. Our current athletes are developing very well and are rising to every challenge, mentally and physically. Our assistant coaches are doing a great job preparing us for now and in the future. The results of the half marathon are just one more piece of evidence in a developing story of successes in our Cross Country program," said Coach Reed Sutton.
