MOBILE, Ala. – Faulkner softball split its penultimate doubleheader of the regular season Friday as it took game two from rival Mobile to hang in the No. 3 spot in the SSAC standings.

Faulkner's game one loss came on the back end of a pair of three-run innings by the Rams. After
Anna Catherine Segrest singled home
Kelbi Johnson to put the Lady Eagles up 1-0 in the third, Mobile took control with a three-spot in the fourth. Faulkner rallied to tie the game in the fifth. The Lady Eagles strung together three consecutive hits with two outs in the frame, allowing
Madelyn Becker's double to right to drive in Segrest and
Addyson Jarman.
The Rams got three more in the sixth to go up 6-3 before Faulkner made one last charge in the seventh.
Chloe Davidson singled to open the frame before Segrest singled to left to put two aboard with nobody out. Jarman followed with a single to center to drive in Davidson and cut it to 6-4. Becker singled to left to plate Segrest and get the tying run to third with none away. Faulkner failed to put another ball out of the infield as the game ended 6-5.
FAULKNER 7, MOBILE 4
The Lady Eagles got the bats going early in game two of the day as they posted a crooked number in the first frame. Becker doubled home Segrest to open the scoring.
Kensley Wesley reached on a bunt single to plate Jarman and make it 2-0. Johnson absorbed a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to bring Becker home for the 3-0 lead.
Mobile plated a pair of runs in the home half of the first to narrow it to 3-2. It stayed there until the fourth when Jarman doubled to left to drive in Davidson for her 50th RBI of the season.
Faulkner added on in the fifth when Johnson stole second on a sequence that allowed Wesley to score. Becker doubled to left-center in the sixth to get Davidson home before scoring on a Wesley single for the 7-2 lead.
Lana Atkins (8-1) worked a complete game effort, allowing 11 hits while striking out two in the victory.
Faulkner (29-13, 14-10 SSAC) wraps the regular season Saturday at William Carey before traveling to the SSAC tournament in Decatur, Ala., next week.
