MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner fell 4-1 to No. 21 Truett McConnell Saturday afternoon at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium with two quick second half goals from the Bears pulling the match out of reach.
Faulkner had a big chance early when
Gabrielle Pfaff's interception led to an open net chance from a ways out as everyone anxiously watched the ball spin towards the goal but hit the post in the second minute.
In the 10th minute TMU capitalized on a corner opportunity with the follow-up shot finding the net. Six minutes later, the Bears doubled the lead.
In the 34th minute,
Oluwatomisin Eludipo sprinted free down the left wing and danced around the keeper before rolling the shot into the empty net for her first goal as an Eagle just over a minute after Truett McConnell had a chance to triple the lead but hit the post.
In the second half, Truett McConnell struck twice in just under a minute with goals in the 57th and 58th to pull away and keep the match out of reach.
Faulkner now turns its attention to Shorter for a Tuesday night matchup.
