AVE MARIA, Fla. - Faulkner's long-range first half strike from
Cassie Jackson held enough for a draw with Ave Maria finding a second half equalizer as the teams shared the points Thursday night at Gyrene Field in the first road game of the season for the Lady Eagles.
The game got underway after a nearly hour and a half weather delay late into the Florida night. The Lady Eagles changed the scoreboard first when
Oluwatomisin Eludipo held up and passed to Jackson who ripped a first time shot from distance up and over the keeper in the 20th minute. It was the third straight match with a goal from the junior.
The Gyrenes flipped the script in the second half, outshooting Faulkner 13-2 following the break but Faulkner held the lead until the 70th minute when Ave Maria connected with the equalizer through Aviana Ferraez who made it 1-1.
The Lady Eagles were outshot 19-5 on the night, but secured a draw to improve to 3-1-1 on the season, the best record through five games 2022 when they went 10-6-2.
Faulkner continues the road trip with a matchup with Warner for the first meeting since 2013.
