Turner-Durley's clutch layup wins it in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - Jordyn Turner-Durley flushed an iso layup with five seconds to go to knock off Loyola Saturday afternoon in the program's fourth win at The Den in 15 trips with an 83-82 result.

Both teams held double-figure leads at some point in a wild game whose last five minutes were a microcosm of the whole 40.

With 4:35 to go, Kamal Green II's jumper put Faulkner up 10, but the Wolf Pack caught fire shooting 6-7 from the floor with three triples to take the lead with a Reece Seichnaydre three with just 41 seconds to go.

Francois-Dony Baba drew a foul and had a chance to tie from the stripe, but missed the first free throw before connecting on the second for his 21st point of the day.

Loyola inbounded to Kameron Johnson who was fouled to send him to the line for one-and-one. The point guard who had 27 points and nine assists had carried the water for the Wolf Pack, but missed the shot. Leonard Jackson grabbed the rebound for the Wolf Pack but missed the ensuing layup that Tanner Vogel grabbed.

Turner-Durley brought the ball up the floor and sought options before driving to the rack down the left side and switching to the right with a right-handed layup that fell with five seconds to play. Johnson quickly moved up the floor for the Wolf Pack and saw a contested jumper hit the iron and the Eagles celebrate.

Faulkner saw five guys in double figures and shot 60 percent from inside the arc. The Eagles dominated the bench points with a 49-3 advantage.

Baba led the team with 21 points with 16 from Turner-Durley. KJ Rogers had 14 points and a career-high eight assists. Green also had 14 with Vogel chipping in 11.

Gideon Harris joined Turner-Durley with five assists.

The Eagles improve to 5-2 in SSAC play and are just a half game behind first place Mobile in the West.

Faulkner returns home to start some cross-divisional play Thursday night when they bring in a Brewton-Parker side that sits atop the SSAC East at 5-1 with wins over Life and Dalton State.
