MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Lady Eagles battled to a 2-2 draw to pick up just the fifth result in program history against Mobile Friday afternoon with two second half goals and seven saves from freshman goalkeeper
Hannah Maddox.
Maddox, a call up from the reserves team after impressing there, earned her first start in her first time dressing out this season and bounced back well from a fifth minute goal from Mobile to save four Ram shots to hold the match to a one-score game at halftime despite the Lady Eagles being unable to shoot in the first 45.
Faulkner looked renewed out of halftime and pressed towards an equalizer for the first 20 minutes until
DeAireal Williams got on the end of a
Brooke Parker corner kick and headed home the tying goal in the 68th minute. It was Williams's third goal of the season and Parker's third assist.
Just six minutes later, Mobile cashed in a corner of their own to take the lead right back in the 74th.
With time winding down, Faulkner had to find another massive goal and located it when
Yury Santaclara passed to
Mekenzie Bettis who tapped the ball towards
Sammy Thiele. The St. Louis, Mo. native fired a shot into the bottom left corner from 20 yards out to tie the match with her first goal as a Lady Eagle.
Faulkner improves to 2-7-3 and picks up its fourth point in SSAC play with a 1-5-1 record.
The Lady Eagles travel to Blue Mountain for an SSAC matchup Thursday at 1 p.m.
