Men Host Quarterfinal vs. Thomas, Women Travel to WCU

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Postseason soccer is upon Faulkner as both the men and women will enter the SSAC Soccer Championships this week.

The regular season champion men's side will play first, hosting eight-seed Thomas Thursday night at 5 p.m. at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium. The Night Hawks enter on a roll after needing two wins and results to fall its way this weekend to enter the field of eight teams. Thomas has won three of its last four matches and will be looking to avenge a 10-0 loss on Sept. 26 to the Eagles. Faulkner enters ranked fourth in the RPI released today and will likely climb from its No. 7 ranking in the NAIA Wednesday in the final poll before the national champion is crowned on a 10 match win streak with three victories over top-five opponents this year.

The women made the tournament for the third straight season, needing to win their last four games to make the eight team field in a 14-team league. Faulkner will travel to currently No. 10 ranked William Carey who claimed the top seed for the eighth time in nine seasons. The Lady Eagles will seek the program's second ever victory over the national powerhouse with the only win coming in the 2012 quarterfinals in Hattiesburg. Kickoff for that contest is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Danny Owens Field in Hattiesburg, Miss.
