MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner fell out of the SSAC Men's Basketball Championship in a 77-56 quarterfinals loss to the East No. 3 seed Brewton-Parker Thursday afternoon at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl as the Barons avenged the two regular season Eagle wins that helped Faulkner finish one game from the SSAC Regular Season Championship.
Tanner Vogel dominated the glass, setting a modern era offensive rebounding record with 12, but the offense that entered averaging 92 points over the last 12 games, was held to a balmy 32.3 percent shooting from the floor and 3-18 from deep to tie its lowest point total of the season. Despite 23 offensive rebounds, the Eagles scored just eight second chance points.Â
Jordyn Turner-Durley scored with 15:49 to go, but BPC went on a 9-2 run fueled by six of Abraham Garjah's 27 points to pull away. Faulkner would not get closer than three the rest of the way. Rogers hit a pair of free throws with 9:45 to go, but BPC went on another run, this time 12-4, over the next two minutes to put the dagger into the game.Â
Vogel ended with 20 rebounds and 12 points. Rogers was the only other Eagle with double figure scoring with 10.Â
