Lady Eagles earn team sportsmanship award at SSAC Championships

GREENVILLE, Ala. - The Lady Eagles wrapped up their 2025-2026 season with a strong showing at the SSAC Women's Golf Championship at RTJ Cambrian Ridge with Shelby Hughes and Eden Shipp wrapping up their Faulkner careers in the middle of the league pack.

Shelby Hughes, who was named the team's Champions of Character, turned in a 15-over-par Monday to be tied with the 23rd-ranked golfer in the NAIA after the first 18. Eden Shipp, who earned the SSAC all-academic honors, finished her first round just one shot behind her teammate at 16-over-par.

The trend continued Tuesday with Hughes shooting one stroke lower than Shipp's 17-over-par in the second round.

Shipp closed with a 24-over-par on the last day and finished 31st. Hughes wrapped up with a 15-over-par third round on the Loblolly and Sherling Courses to place 27th.

After the tournament, the Lady Eagles were recognized as the Team Sportsmanship award winners as voted on by their fellow conference mates.
