DALTON, Ga. -
Taylor Waters stopped a career-high 11 shots but Dalton State was just too much Friday night at Dalton Stadium as the Lady Eagles suffered a 2-0 loss to open SSAC play.
Faulkner had a couple of chances off early corners, but Dalton State's Alice Legnedahl scored the opener in the 6th minute to score the first goal in the series in regulation in Dalton as all previous matchups ended scoreless after 90 minutes.Â
The keepers shined in the first half, stopping a combined nine shots with Waters getting five which already surpassed her season high.Â
Faulkner kept knocking but Maggie Rickerd made another save for the hosts to open the second half before Dalton State scored the second on a follow-up by Audrey Hunt after Amy Wearing hit the crossbar.Â
The Lady Eagles got two more shots late in the match but could not find the net.Â
Faulkner falls to 1-3-2 overall and 0-1 to start SSAC play. The road does not relent for the Lady Eagles who travel to No. 13 Life Sunday afternoon for a noon kickoff central time.
