MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner battled No. 11 William Carey but 18 saves from Mireia Ferrero Rosino was not enough in a 7-0 loss Saturday afternoon at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.

Faulkner withstood a couple of good looks from the Crusaders, who have not lost a conference game since 2017, early on until Boo Mills rifled a shot into the top right corner from distance in the eighth minute. Shortly after, a lightning delay paused action for almost two hours before the teams returned to the field. 

Carey added to the lead in the 16th and 38th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into half with Ferrero Rosino stopping nine shots in the frame on 18 total efforts from the league juggernaut. 

WCU kept the pressure up in the second half, scattering four goals while putting another nine on target that the Faulkner goalkeeper stopped. 

The 18 saves made by Rosino tied her for sixth most in a game in program history.

Faulkner looks to bounce back with an intriguing matchup at home against Brewton-Parker on Thursday at 5 p.m.
