MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After pounding out 10 hits in a 9-1 victory over eighth-ranked Faulkner in the first game of a doubleheader here Wednesday at Harrison Field, the Blue Raiders rallied for three runs in their last at-bat to grab a 7-6 decision in the nightcap, handing the Eagles their first two losses of the season.

Lindsey Wilson (2-0) entered the final inning trailing 6-4, having scored all four of its runs in the first. Faulkner reliever Cory Hamilton, who had not surrendered a hit in two previous innings, surrendered singles to the first two batters he faced in the top of the seventh. The Blue Raiders took advantage of a hit batsman and an error to tie it, then went ahead on Manuel Alonzo's run-scoring single.

The Eagles (8-2) loaded the bases in the bottom half, but Matt Creel grounded into a fielder's choice to end it. Craig Massey had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs to pace the Eagle attack, which also got a three-run homer from Kevin Finney. Daniel Cayton added a pair of hits for Faulkner.

Hamilton took the loss, falling to 1-1 on the season, while the Blue Raiders' Darren Travers pitched a complete game to pick up the win, scattering nine hits and striking out two.

The first game was no contest, with Faulkner producing just a pair of singles against Blue Raider pitcher Derek Cape, who went the full seven innings, striking out nine and walking four. Lindsey Wilson scored in five of its seven at-bats in Game 2, grabbing the lead with a four-run second inning and never looking back. The Eagles also committed three errors to aid the Blue Raider cause. Adam Peacock had three hits and three RBIs to lead Lindsey Wilson.

Alex Miranda was the first of four Faulkner pitchers and took the loss, allowing five earned runs in two innings of work.

"These were two really tough losses," Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy said. "We did not play well and still had a shot to win the second game. Everything that could go wrong did. We have a strong team though. Championships are not won in February. We will be okay, we have a great club and we're looking forward to this weekend."

The Eagles head into Southern States Athletic Conference action this weekend, hosting cross-town rival Auburn Montgomery in a three-game series at Harrison Field. Friday's single game starts at 4 p.m., with Saturday's doubleheader set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
