MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Due to inclement weather, Saturday's third and series-deciding game between Faulkner and Auburn Montgomery has been postponed. The game will be played Sunday afternoon at 2 at Harrison Field.

The 13th-ranked Warhawks won Friday's first game 3-2, with eighth-ranked Faulkner bouncing back to capture the nightcap 8-1.

In the opener Friday afternoon AUM designated hitter Adam Russell broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run homer to left center off of Faulkner starter Corey Black, who entered the inning having allowed only three hits. Black retired the first two Warhawk hitters in the inning before Hunter Cross coaxed a walk on a full-count offering. Russell then parked an 0-1 offering from Black, providing AUM a lead it would not relinquish.

Faulkner looked as if it might gain control in the bottom of the sixth when, with two outs, David Bishop was hit by a pitch, and Zach Colby and Matt Creel followed with back-to-back singles, the latter driving in Bishop to cut the AUM lead to 3-2. After Brook Boudreaux walked to load the bases, AUM starter and winner Cory McGinnis (2-0) struck out Eagles' designated hitter Kevin Finney looking to end the threat.

The Warhawks' Michael Carden came on in the seventh and earned the save, allowing only one hit. Black (1-1) took the loss for the Eagles. In the bottom of the last inning, Faulkner's Daniel Cayton hit a towering drive down the right-field line with home run distance that hooked just foul. Cayton struck out two pitches later, and the Warhawks had the victory.

Russell and Shane Turner had multiple hits in AUM's victory in the opener, while Creel had three of Faulkner's five hits in the game.

"We're playing really good baseball and I'm happy about that," Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy said. "Most of our league games are going to come down to one pitch. This league is that good. And the first game today was decided on one pitch. Corey pitched really well, we just didn't get the hits when we needed them. In the second game we did get some big hits, and I'm proud of the guys for bouncing back to even the series."

In Game 2, AUM led 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth, when Faulkner rallied with an assist from the Warhawks. After Finney walked with one out, AUM starter Cody Hall committed an error on Boudreaux's sacrifice attempt to give the Eagles runners at first and second. Matt Darr bounced into a fielder's choice for the second out of the inning before Tucker Willard drew a walk to load the bases. Three straight singles from Colby, Matt Parker and Brennan Olive produced five unearned runs for Faulkner and a 5-1 lead.

Colby singled in another Faulkner run in the sixth, and the Eagles added two more unearned runs in the eighth when Creel drove in a pair after two were out. Warhawk second baseman Jorden Johnson's error early in the inning set up Creel's opportunity.

Will Dismukes (2-0) earned the victory for Faulkner, scattering five hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out four Warhawks along the way. Hall took the loss, despite not allowing an earned run in 4 2/3 innings.

Willard, Parker and Creel each had two hits in the Game 2 victory. AUM's Rusty Todd, Logan Remson and Michael Dugan added a pair of hits apiece in the loss.
