Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MOBILE, Ala. - Faulkner softball entered Southern States Athletic Conference action for the first time Tuesday afternoon when it faced off against No. 23 Mobile. The Lady Rams handed the Lady Eagles their first shutout of the season when they squeaked by with a 1-0 win in the opener. Faulkner fired back in the second event however, when it secured the 3-2 victory.

A sacrifice fly to deep left field in the bottom of the second inning generated the only run in Game 1.

Missy Duke (5-2) scattered nine hits over six innings and allowed the single earned run in the loss.

Faulkner claimed a second inning lead in the nightcap when Tia Rogers singled to center scoring Duke.

The Lady Eagles advanced their lead in the following at-bat when Haley Munroe hammered and RBI single to center before scoring herself on a wild throw to first just minutes later.

Mobile matched Faulkner's two runs that same inning, but was unable to take the lead and suffered only its fourth loss of the season.

Mattie Dotson (1-6) picked up her first win as a Lady Eagle here this afternoon. The freshman allowed seven hits and gave up a pair of earned runs while striking out five batters.

Rodgers and Erin Byrd were both 1-for-3 in the event and Rodgers had an RBI and Byrd scored a run.

Munroe and Duke were each 1-for-4 in Game 2. Both players scored and Munroe added an RBI.

Faulkner (6-8/1-1) will make its home debut Wednesday afternoon when it hosts division rival Belhaven. The doubleheader is set for 2 p.m.
