MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After spending 14 games on the road, Faulkner finally made it home to Wynn Field Wednesday afternoon for its home opening series with Southern States Athletic Conference division rival Belhaven. The Blazers sparked early in the opener and held off a Lady Eagles rally to clinch the 4-3 win in nine innings before edging the home team again 2-1 in the nightcap to claim the series sweep.

Belhaven produced 10 hits in Game 1, but none was bigger than Jessica Paris' two-run homer with two outs in the top of the fifth inning to break the scoring silence and give the visitors the lead.

The Blazers scored again in the sixth inning before Faulkner fired back.

Tori Hollis ripped an RBI double to deep center to put Faulkner on the board before scoring herself on an RBI double courtesy of Cassie Gable. Gable tied the game when she took home from third on a wild pitch.

Belhaven cracked the stalemate in the top of the ninth with a hard shot down the third base line scoring a runner from second. Faulkner was unable to answer.

The Blazers wasted little time in Game 2 and grabbed a 1-0 lead in their first at-bat. 

The Lady Eagles squandered an opportunity to take control of the event that same inning when they failed to capitalize with no outs and a pair of runners in scoring position. Faulkner mustered a run late, but never gained control of the scoreboard.

Missy Duke (5-3) scattered 10 hits over nine innings and allowed four earned runs, while tallying five strikeouts in the loss in Game 1.

Gable went 3-for-3 and scored a run in the opener and Hollis was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Mattie Dotson (1-7) gave up seven hits, but allowed no earned runs in the Game 2 loss.

Haley Munroe was 1-for-3 with a run and Gable was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Rachel Reiswig was 1-for-2.

Faulkner dropped to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in the SSAC. The Lady Eagles will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., for another division showdown with No. 7 William Carey on Friday at 2 p.m.
