Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner hosted No. 23 Mobile in the final home series of the regular season here at Wynn Field Tuesday evening. The Lady Eagles were looking for a sweep that would catapult them into third place in the West Division and into the second round Southern States Athletic Conference tournament later this week. The Lady Rams had other plans however, and claimed the 3-1 win in the opener. The home team rallied with five unanswered runs in the nightcap though, and secured the 5-2 upset.
The Lady Rams scored on a sac fly to left field in the fifth inning of Game 1 to take the 1-0 lead and followed with a Milagros Lozada homer and an RBI single in sixth.
Faulkner mustered a single run late, but the damage had already been done.
Missy Duke (11-8) allowed three earned runs on eight hits and struck out three in the loss.
Keri Hyde, Jessi Palmer, Cassie Gable and Kaylah Hall were all 1-for-3 for Faulkner and Heather Smith tallied the RBI.
Mobile had a runner reach on an error in the top of the first inning of Game 2 and Lozada made Faulkner pay with a two-run shot just moments later.
The Lady Eagles gained momentum in the bottom of the second however, and posted four runs to take the lead.
Faulkner added another run in the fifth to cap the scoring effort.
Mattie Dotson (3-13) scattered five hits over seven innings and allowed no earned runs while striking out three in the win. It was Dotson's second victory over Mobile this season.
Tia Rodgers was 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run in the second event.
Faulkner closes the regular season at 14-21 overall and 9-14 in the league. The Lady Eagles will face Brewton-Parker in the opening round of the conference tournament in Columbus, Ga., on Thursday. The game is slated for 11 a.m. central time.
