MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Spring Hill's second half goal was enough to overcome the Faulkner rally and earn the Southern States Athletic Conference victory 2-1 at John Mark Stallings Field this evening.

The Eagles' speed helped keep them on the attack early in the event, but it was the Badgers' Dyaln Gardner that shook the net first on a pass from Salvador Sanchis in the 22nd minute.

Faulkner's Alex Stutts connected with Alec Daley who chipped a beautiful shot over the approaching keeper to tie the event four minutes into the second half.

The Eagles continued to apply pressure, but Sanchis broke through the back line and delivered the game-winning goal with 15 minutes to play. 

Pritchard Ndaira (3-9-1) tallied six saves and allowed two goals in the loss.

"We have to play smarter," head coach Kyle Beard told his team after the game. "They beat us because we didn't work, we didn't get back. We played well, but we can't make these little mistakes. It's basic soccer. We also stopped looking at what was working for us in the second half. We know how to do this stuff because we did it against Mobile, but tonight we paid the price. We were in the game, we could have won it - but I don't want 'could have'. I want better for you guys."

Faulkner dropped to 3-9-1 overall and 2-5 in the league. The Eagles will have a week to regroup before traveling to Central, S.C., to take on Southern Wesleyan in an SSAC matchup. The game is set for 7 p.m. on Oct. 25.
