Faulkner blows by Emmanuel, sweeps SSAC series

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Julian Esquibel tossed a complete-game, four hitter as No. 9 Faulkner stayed unbeaten in the Southern States Athletic Conference, bouncing Emmanuel 8-2 here Friday afternoon to sweep their-three-game series at Harrison Field.

The junior righthander struck out eight and walked only one, and allowed only one earned run in improving his record to 4-0. Faulkner, which pounded out 12 hits, improved to 15-2 overall and 6-0 in the SSAC.

"The entire club has bought into what we are trying to do," Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy said. "The team executed the plan the entire weekend. It's a great start to our conference season."

Zak Colby and Sergio Sanchez each had three hits and two RBIs, with Sanchez adding a pair of runs scored as well. Brook Boudreaux contributed a pair of hits and scored three times, while Dauris Holguin had two hits and two runs driven in.

With the loss, Emmanuel dropped to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in the SSAC.

Faulkner travels to Gainesville, Ga., next weekend to battle Truett-McConnell in another Southern States Athletic Conference three-game series.
