MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's Chelsey Dunnaway and Mattie Dotson tossed a pair of one-hitters and the Lady Eagles tallied 19 hits and 16 runs over two events to blister Talladega 8-0 (5) and 8-0 (5) here at Wynn Field.

Faulkner made decent contact at the plate early on, but placement was an irritation. By the fourth inning the Lady Eagles had found their groove and the scoreboard began to reflect it.

Abbie Pierce scored on a fielder's choice to spark the scoring effort. Keri Hyde followed with an RBI-double and Erin Byrd's RBI-single moved Faulkner into a 3-0 lead.

The subsequent inning was more of the same with Avery Mott ushering life into the offense with a two-RBI double. Pierce scored again on a fielder's choice and Byrd improved on her previous trip to the plate when she cranked a walk-off two-RBI double to deep center field.

Dunnaway (3-0) was stellar the circle in Game 1allowing just a single hit and logging three strikeouts in the five-inning shutout.

It was the third inning of Game 2 before the Lady Eagles adjusted to the Tornado pitching.

Byrd wasted little time in generating a slugfest when she ripped another two-RBI shot.

Tori Hollis followed with an RBI-double of her own and later scored on a passed ball.

Byrd remained true to form in her final at-bat when she punched her third double of the afternoon just inside the chalk down the left field line knocking in a pair of runs.

Hannah Qualls took walk-off honors in the second event when she laced a hard RBI-single up the gut.

Dotson (2-1) echoed Dunnaway's brilliance on defense with a one-hit, five-strikeout effort. It was Dotson's second shutout in as many games.

Byrd was devastating at the plate for Faulkner going an impressive 4-for-7 with seven RBIs and a scored run in two games.

Hyde went 3-for-5 on the day and tallied three runs, stole three bases and scored twice.

Pierce was 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Mott and Sophie Slemp were both 1-for-3 in Game 1 with Mott also knocking in a pair of runs and scoring twice.

Qualls and Hollis were each 1-for-3 in the nightcap. Qualls drove in two runs and scored and Hollis added an RBI and a run of her own.

Faulkner improved to 7-1 on the season and will enter the Gulf Coast Invitational at Orange Beach beginning on Friday.
