MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner opened Southern States Athletic Conference action this evening when it hosted Brewton-Parker here at Wynn Field. The Lady Eagles cruised to 6-1 win in the opener and followed with a 14-hit performance in the nightcap to secure the 8-4 victory and the sweep.

The Lady Barons made contact early and posted three hits and a run in their first trip to the plate.

Faulkner answered in the second inning with a solo home run courtesy of Tia Rogers and Rachel Resiwig's RBI-single moved the home team into the lead. Brewton-Parker walked in a pair of runs that same inning.

Tori Hollis cranked a solo shot to center in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Lady Barons walked in the game's final run.

After three rapid hits in the top of the first, Natalie Walker (6-1) put a clamp on the Brewton-Parker offense and allowed just two additional hits the remainder of the event. The junior allowed only a single run and walked no batters in the win.

Both sides struggled with a constricted strike zone in Game 2, but that didn't keep Faulkner from making a dint at the plate.

Hollis offered up an RBI-single to put the Lady Eagles on the board in the bottom of the first inning and Abbie Pierce's two-RBI double extended the Faulkner lead.

The second inning looked much like the first with Hollis knocking in another run on a triple to initiate the scoring effort. Rogers and Pierce each generated RBI-singles to move the Lady Eagles into a 6-0 lead.

Brewton-Parker's Lauren Clinton narrowed that margin with grand slam in the top of the third.

Pierce knocked in yet another run in the bottom of the same inning. Faulkner scored its final run in the sixth inning when Keri Hyde's hard shot to second was bobbled, allowing Hannah Qualls to venture home.

Chelsey Dunnaway gave up three hits and four earned runs in two innings of work. She tallied four strikeouts and walked five batters.

Mattie Dotson (4-2) scattered just three hits and allowed no runs in five innings from the circle. The sophomore struck out three batters and walked just two.

Rogers and Hollis were brilliant across both game at the plate for Faulkner. 

Rogers went 4-for-6 on the day with a double and home run in the mix. The junior also scored three runs and knocked in two more. 

Hollis was 4-for-7 with a homer and a triple and accounted for four RBIs and three runs. 

Reiswig went 1-for-3 in Game 1 and had an RBI and a run.

Pierece was 3-for-4 at the plate in Game 2 and drove in half of Faulkner's runs.

Erin Byrd was 2-for-3 and scored in the second event, while Hyde and Qualls were both 2-for-4 with a pair of runs each.

Faulkner moved to 16-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Lady Eagles will host No. 12 Breanu in conference action Friday at Wynn Field. The doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
