MOBILE, Ala. -  Faulkner was looking for a pair of key wins this afternoon when it took on division foe Mobile. The Lady Eagles took control of the opener midway through the event, but a three-run sixth carried the home team to a 5-4 victory. The Rams then completely dominated in the final bout and out-hit Faulkner 12 to four to secure the 9-0 win in just five innings.

Mobile ignited the scoreboard with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to take the early lead, but after three quiet innings the visitors exploded.

With two outs already in tow, Faulkner began to methodically attack the Ram defense. Erin Byrd and Tori Hollis each singled and drove in a run before Abbie Pierce delivered a two-RBI single to put the Lady Eagles in a 4-2 lead.

Mobile responded in the sixth however, securing three runs on two hits. 

A key error in the infield resulted in a run for the home team and moved two Rams into scoring position. 

Mobile tied the game with a sacrifice fly to right field and a single to center scored the go-ahead run. Faulkner never recovered.

The Rams went on to score in four consecutive innings of Game 2 while allowing just four Lady Eagles to reach base.

The second event was a slugfest for the Rams which delivered four doubles and a pair of home runs in just four trips to the plate.

Mattie Dotson (5-3) took the loss in Game 1. The sophomore scattered eight hits over seven innings and allowed two earned runs while striking out three batters.

Faulkner threw all three of its pitchers in the second event, but Natalie Walker (6-3) took the loss. The junior gave up nine hits and six earned runs in three innings from the circle.

Avery Mott was the most consistent hitter at the plate fore Faulkner going 3-for-5 in the series.

Byrd was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run on the day and Pierce knocked in two runs and Hollis had an RBI and scored.

Faulkner dropped to 17-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the league. The road gets even tougher from here with three Top 20 teams on the docket this week. The team will try to break its losing streak when they take on cross-town and division rival Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday. The No. 7 Warhawks host the Lady Eagles in doubleheader action beginning at 4 p.m.
