WEST POINT, Ga. - No. 9 Faulkner jumped to a quick 2-0 lead but couldn't hold it, allowing three unearned runs in falling to Point 3-2 here Wednesday afternoon.
Zak Colby smashed a two-run homer in the first inning to stake the Eagles (19-3) to the early lead, but errors in the sixth and seventh innings allowed the Skyhawks to take a lead they never relinquished. Faulkner had seven hits to just four for Point, but could never get the big hit to take control.
Reliever Preston Szuch took the loss, allowing the unearned run in the seventh inning that put the Skyhawks on top.
Faulkner travels to Mobile this weekend to face Spring Hill in a Southern States Athletic Conference three-game series
