No. 3 Faulkner blasts Blue Mountain in non-conference DH

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Third-ranked Faulkner pounded out 34 hits and scored 33 runs in a pair of dominating wins over Blue Mountain here Monday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Harrison Field.
 
The Eagles, who improved to 36-9 with the sweep, won the first game 17-4 and the second 16-7. Blue Mountain fell to 10-27 with the pair of losses.
 
"Its good to see were clicking on all cylinders at this point in the season," Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy said. "We needed to get some guys in there and get them some work, and we were able to that today."
 
David Bishop had six hits on the day, including two triples and two home runs, and drove in seven runs and scored six more to lead the Eagles onslaught. Michael Cruz had four hits and four RBIs in the two games, while Cayleb Coker added four hits, scored five runs and drove in two.
 
Jeremy Holcombe was the winning pitcher in the opener, while Justin Hallmark earned the victory in the nightcap.
 
Faulkner hosts Southern Poly this weekend in a Southern States Athletic Conference three-game series. Friday's first game starts at 6 p.m. at Harrison Field.
