MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Auburn Montgomery was looking to even the score against Faulkner this afternoon at Wynn Field after the Lady Eagles clipped the Warhawks in a Southern States Athletic Conference series last week. AUM proved unstoppable in the opener hanging 15 runs over four innings, while Cassie Daniels held the Lady Eagles to just a single hit in the 15-0 blowout. Faulkner found a little more offense in the nightcap, but AUM led throughout and secured the 9-5 win.

An error in the field early in the first inning of the opener proved crucial when Katie Spain cranked a two-run bomb to put the visitors on the board. 

Faulkner errors opposite Warhawk slugging set the tempo for Game 1 and by the following inning the home team was coming apart at the seams.

The Lady Eagles produced three errors in the second inning alone. Meanwhile, Laci Driggers crushed a two-run shot to left as part of AUM's four-hit, seven-run assault.

Jyssica Pepper's homer added three to the run total for AUM in the third inning and five more hits generated three final runs in the fourth.

Tori Hollis dashed Cassie Daniels' no-hit effort with a single by second base in the top of the fourth. It was Faulkner's only hit of the outing.

Daniels (13-1) earned the win for AUM in the one-hit performance and had eight strikeouts.

Mattie Dotson (6-6) gave up eight hits and three earned runs in two and a third innings of work in the loss.

Natalie Walker threw the remainder of the event and allowed seven hits and three earned runs.

Leslie Kelly's solo homer sparked AUM's five-run second inning in Game 2 and the Warhawks struck again in the third.

Faulkner managed to break its scoring silence in the fourth inning when Amanda Seales crushed the opening pitch over the fence at left centerfield. The home team scored again on an AUM error.

Another Warhawk error followed by Sophie Slemp's RBI-single pulled the Lady Eagles within two the following inning.

The teams traded scores in the sixth, but AUM's two-run seventh was too much for Faulkner to overcome.

Walker (7-6) scattered 10 hits over seven innings and gave up four earned runs while striking out eight batters in the loss.

The visitors out-hit Faulkner 25 to seven and the Lady Eagles compounded the issue with 11 errors over the two games.

It was Faulkner's third consecutive SSAC series loss and its first at home this season.

The team dropped to 19-13-1 overall and 5-10-1 in the league. The Lady Eagles will travel to Central, S.C., on Friday to take on cross-division foe Southern Wesleyan. The doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m.
